Instructions for Making Pizza Dough
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F) with sugar and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine the Mixtures
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until combined.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- 6
Shape the Dough
Once risen, punch down the dough to release air, then shape it into a ball. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or place it in a zip-top bag.
- 7
Chill or Freeze
Store the dough in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. When ready to use, let it come to room temperature before rolling out.
