Method

Brownies

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter

In a saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, 2 cups granulated sugar, and 1 cup brown sugar. Stir until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add 4 large eggs and 2 tsp vanilla extract to the sugar mixture. Mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 tsp salt.

  6. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in 1 cup chocolate chips.

  7. 7

    Bake Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  8. 8

    Cool Brownies

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Salted Caramel Sauce

  1. 9

    Make Caramel Sauce

In a medium saucepan, heat 1 cup granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly until it melts into a deep amber color.

  2. 10

    Add Butter

Once the sugar is melted, carefully add 6 tbsp unsalted butter and stir until melted and combined.

  3. 11

    Add Cream and Salt

Slowly pour in 1 cup heavy cream while stirring. Let it boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp sea salt.

  4. 12

    Cool Caramel Sauce

Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly before drizzling over the brownies.

Whipped Topping

  1. 13

    Whip Cream

In a mixing bowl, add 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tbsp powdered sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract.

  2. 14

    Beat Until Stiff Peaks

Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.
