Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the olive oil and the activated yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Topping Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Garlic Butter

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.

  2. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Assembly and Baking

  1. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangular shape on a floured surface. Transfer it to a greased baking sheet.

  2. 8

    Brush with Garlic Butter

Brush the surface of the dough generously with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle dried oregano and salt over the top.

  3. 9

    Add Cheese

Evenly sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the brushed dough.

  4. 10

    Bake

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.

  5. 11

    Slice and Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice into fingers and serve warm with Donair sauce.

Donair Sauce Preparation

  1. 12

    Mix the Sauce Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, garlic powder, white vinegar, sugar, and salt. Mix well until smooth.

  2. 13

    Chill the Sauce

Refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
