Method

Brownie Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt the Butter

In a large saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over medium heat.

  3. 3

    Combine Sugars

Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 tsp of salt.

  6. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  7. 7

    Bake the Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Salted Caramel Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Make the Caramel

In a medium saucepan, heat 1 cup of granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar melts and turns a golden amber color.

  2. 9

    Add Butter

Once the sugar is melted, carefully add 6 tbsp of unsalted butter and stir until the butter is melted and fully combined.

  3. 10

    Incorporate Heavy Cream

Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream while stirring constantly. Be cautious, as the mixture will bubble up.

  4. 11

    Add Sea Salt

Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp of sea salt. Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly before using.

Assembly

  1. 12

    Layer the Brownies and Caramel

Once the brownies have cooled, drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the top of the brownies, allowing it to soak in slightly.

  2. 13

    Serve

Cut the brownies into squares and serve. Enjoy your family-sized salted caramel brownie!
