Preparation

Dough Preparation

1. Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F), sugar, and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2. Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Slowly add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

3. Knead Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Cooking Budda Boomers

5. Prepare the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

6. Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small balls (about the size of a golf ball).

7. Fry the Dough

Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon.

8. Toss with Toppings

In a large bowl, toss the fried dough with olive oil, garlic powder, Parmesan, and Romano cheese until well coated.

Sauce Preparation

9. Make the Sauce

In a saucepan, combine crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer on low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
