Blackberry Syrup Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Blackberry Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine the fresh blackberries, water, and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- 2
Simmer the Mixture
Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the blackberries have broken down and the mixture has thickened slightly.
- 3
Strain the Syrup
Remove from heat and let it cool. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove the solids, pressing on the berries to extract as much liquid as possible.
- 4
Store the Syrup
Store the blackberry syrup in the refrigerator until ready to use. It can be made ahead of time and lasts for about a week.
Soda Assembly
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a large glass or soda glass, combine the prepared blackberry syrup, simple syrup, and fresh lemon juice.
- 6
Add Sparkling Water
Slowly pour in the sparkling water, stirring gently to combine without losing carbonation.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Add fresh blackberries and mint leaves for garnish. Serve immediately with ice if desired.
