Tea Base

Method

Prepare Tea Base

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Steep Tea

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat. Add 4 black tea bags and let them steep for about 5-7 minutes, depending on your desired strength.

  3. 3

    Sweeten Tea

Remove the tea bags and stir in 1 tablespoon of sugar until dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.

Prepare Blackberry Mixture

  1. 4

    Blend Blackberries

In a blender, combine 1 cup of fresh blackberries and 1 cup of water. Blend until smooth.

  2. 5

    Strain Mixture

Using a fine-mesh strainer, strain the blackberry mixture into a bowl to remove seeds and pulp. Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to the strained blackberry juice and mix well.

Combine and Serve

  1. 6

    Mix Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the chilled tea base and the blackberry mixture. Stir well to combine.

  2. 7

    Garnish

Serve the blackberry iced tea over ice and garnish each glass with fresh mint leaves and a few blackberries.
