Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Boiling Water

Stir in the boiling water until fully combined. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Directions

  1. 7

    Prepare Frosting Ingredients

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Add the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.

  2. 8

    Add Sugar and Milk

Gradually add the powdered sugar and whole milk, beating on medium speed until the frosting is smooth and spreadable. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.

  3. 9

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  4. 10

    Serve and Enjoy

Slice the cake and serve. Enjoy your rich chocolate cake!
