Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 equal triangles to form chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla triangles to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

  4. 4

    Drain the Chips

Remove the chips from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still warm.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Prepare the Ingredients

Chop the tomatoes, red onion, and jalapeño pepper finely. Remove seeds from the jalapeño for less heat if desired.

  2. 6

    Mix the Salsa

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper, and fresh cilantro.

  3. 7

    Season the Salsa

Add lime juice and salt to the mixture and stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  4. 8

    Let it Rest

Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld before serving.
