Cocktail Sauce

Method

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, prepared horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Stir until well blended.

  2. 2

    Season to Taste

Add salt and black pepper to the sauce, adjusting the quantities to your preference. Set aside in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the shrimp.

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil. Add the halved lemon, bay leaves, and Old Bay seasoning to the boiling water.

  2. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the shrimp to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook.

  3. 5

    Cool the Shrimp

Remove the shrimp from the pot and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  4. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooled, drain the shrimp and pat dry with a paper towel. Arrange the shrimp on a serving platter with the cocktail sauce alongside for dipping.
