Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes them crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the water and pat the potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the pot.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer the fries to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve hot with ketchup on the side.
