Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

In a large pot, combine water and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Shrimp

Once the water is boiling, add the peeled and deveined shrimp and the lemon slices. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 3

    Ice Bath

Remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately place them in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain and Chill

Once cooled, drain the shrimp and place them on a paper towel to remove excess water. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Cocktail Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using).

  2. 6

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more horseradish for heat or more ketchup for sweetness.

  3. 7

    Chill the Sauce

Refrigerate the cocktail sauce for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
