Ranch Dressing

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. This helps the batter adhere better.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Add Buttermilk

Pour in the buttermilk into the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, coating it completely. Allow excess batter to drip off.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the battered pickles in the hot oil. Fry in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Ranch Dressing

  1. 8

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt until smooth.

  2. 9

    Chill the Dressing

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.
