Onion Rings
Ranch Dip
Method
Onion Rings
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large heavy-bottomed pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip the onion rings into the batter, ensuring they are evenly coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Ranch Dip
- 6
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 7
Mix Well
Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well blended and smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- 8
Chill
Refrigerate the ranch dip for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
