Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and cold water together. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Batter the Calamari
Dip each calamari ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Carefully place the battered calamari rings into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried calamari from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with house cocktail sauce.
