Wontons and Salsa

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Make the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced green chiles, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.

  2. 2

    Fill the Wontons

Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold the wrapper over to form a triangle, pressing to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

  3. 3

    Fry the Wontons

In a deep skillet or pot, heat cooking oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the filled wontons in batches and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Make the Pineapple Jalapeno Salsa

In a separate bowl, combine diced pineapple, diced jalapeno, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, and salt. Mix well and let sit for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the hot wontons with the pineapple jalapeno salsa on the side for dipping.
