Preparation Instructions
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, warm milk, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape the Rolls
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
- 6
Second Rise
Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- 7
Bake the Rolls
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8
Prepare the Butter
While the rolls are baking, soften some unsalted butter and set aside.
