Danish Pastry Dough
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. In a saucepan, heat milk until warm. Add butter to milk and stir until melted. Combine milk mixture with dry ingredients. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Prepare the Fillings
In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. In another bowl, combine fruit preserves and fresh fruit.
- 3
Assemble the Danish
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into squares or rectangles. Spoon cream cheese filling onto half of each piece of dough, and top with fruit filling. Fold over the dough and pinch the edges to seal.
- 4
Bake
Place the assembled Danish on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
