Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onion Jam

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and salt. Cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add sugar and vinegar

Stir in the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the bacon

In another skillet, cook the smoked bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels and set aside.

  4. 4

Form and cook the burger patties

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into two patties. In a skillet or grill, cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Add cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Muenster cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

  6. 6

    Assemble the burger

Toast the burger buns. Spread the peppercorn aioli on both halves of the buns, place the burger patty with melted cheese, top with crispy bacon, and a generous scoop of onion jam.

  7. 7

    Serve

Place the top bun on the stacked burger and serve immediately.
