Prepare the Patties

Mash Black Beans
In a large bowl, mash the black beans using a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

Mix Ingredients
Add the cooked quinoa, oats, chopped onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed black beans. Mix until well combined.

Form Patties
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty approximately ½ inch thick.

Chill Patties
Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
Cook the Patties

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Cook Patties
Add the chilled patties to the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and heated through.
Assemble the Burger

Prepare Buns
Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly if desired.

Place the top half of the bun over the assembled ingredients and press down gently.
