Method
Preparation of Special Sauce
- 1
Make the Special Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary. Set aside.
Assembling the Reuben
- 2
Layer the Ingredients
On two slices of rye bread, layer the corned beef evenly. Top with sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. Spread a generous amount of the special sauce on the remaining two slices of rye bread.
Grilling the Sandwich
- 3
Grill the Sandwich
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add one tablespoon of butter and let it melt. Place one assembled sandwich in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt. Carefully flip the sandwich and add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Cook the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- 4
Repeat for the Second Sandwich
Remove the first sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Repeat the grilling process for the second sandwich with the remaining ingredients.
Serving
- 5
Slice and Serve
Once both sandwiches are grilled, cut them in half diagonally and serve hot with extra special sauce on the side, if desired.
