Hamburger Steak

Macaroni Salad

Method

Hamburger Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into two equal patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. Remove the patties and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they are soft and caramelized. Remove from the skillet and keep warm.

Brown Gravy

  1. 4

    Make the Roux

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until it turns a light golden color.

  2. 5

    Add Broth

Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 3-5 minutes until thickened.

Macaroni Salad

  1. 6

    Cook the Macaroni

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water.

  2. 7

    Mix the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, mayonnaise, diced celery, diced red onion, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
