Method
Preparation
- 1
Clean and Prepare Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps to remove any excess moisture.

- 3
Coat Calamari
Take each calamari ring, dip it into the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated, then dip it into the whisked eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the seasoned breadcrumbs. Place the breaded calamari on a plate and repeat for all rings.

- 4
Heat Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle and turn golden brown.
- 5
Fry Calamari
Carefully add the breaded calamari rings to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 6
Drain and Keep Warm
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried calamari from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Keep warm in a low oven while frying the remaining batches.
