Method

For the Chocolate Cake

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

For the Whipped Cream

  1. 8

    Prepare Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form.

For Serving

  1. 9

    Assemble the Dessert

Place a slice of chocolate cake on a plate, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and drizzle with chocolate sauce.

  2. 10

    Add Whipped Cream

Finish off by adding a generous dollop of whipped cream on top.
