Prep the Potatoes
Peel and grate the russet potatoes using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a bowl of cold water for about 10 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and squeeze out the moisture.

In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Mix well and set aside.

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil and butter over medium-high heat until the butter is melted and hot.

Add the grated and drained potatoes to the skillet in an even layer. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the top. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Flip the hash browns using a spatula and press down to flatten. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the other side is also golden brown and crispy.
