Base Ingredients

Pecan Addition

Method

Ice Cream Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Base Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.

Pecan Preparation

  1. 3

    Toast the Pecans

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir frequently for about 5-7 minutes until the pecans are golden brown and fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool.

Churning the Ice Cream

  1. 4

    Churn the Ice Cream

Pour the chilled ice cream base into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually for about 20-25 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add the Toasted Pecans

In the last 5 minutes of churning, add the cooled toasted pecans to the ice cream mix to incorporate them evenly.

Freezing the Ice Cream

  1. 6

    Transfer and Freeze

Once the ice cream has reached a soft-serve consistency, transfer it to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
