Ingredients for Grand Marnier

Method

Directions for Grand Marnier

  1. 1

    Prepare the Orange Peels

Wash the oranges thoroughly and use a vegetable peeler to remove the peels, avoiding the bitter white pith. You will need about 2 large pieces of orange peels.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a large glass jar, combine the orange peels, cognac, and sugar. Stir gently to mix the ingredients evenly.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Syrup

In a saucepan, combine water and the sugar from the jar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool down.

  4. 4

    Add Syrup to Jar

Once the syrup is cool, pour it into the jar with the orange peels and cognac mixture. Stir gently to combine.

  5. 5

    Add Vanilla Bean

Slice the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape the seeds into the jar. Add the entire vanilla pod as well for extra flavor.

  6. 6

    Infuse the Mixture

Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool, dark place. Allow the mixture to infuse for at least 2 weeks, shaking the jar gently every few days.

  7. 7

    Strain and Bottle

After 2 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bottle, discarding the solids. Seal the bottle tightly.

  8. 8

    Store and Enjoy

Store the Grand Marnier in a cool, dark place. It can be enjoyed on its own, in cocktails, or as a flavoring in desserts.
