Method

Beer Batter Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Beer Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Add Beer

Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and well combined. Set aside.

Fish Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Cod

Pat the Atlantic cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Frying

  1. 5

    Batter the Fish

Dip each seasoned cod fillet into the beer batter, ensuring it's fully coated.

  2. 6

    Fry the Fish

Carefully place the battered cod fillets into the hot oil, frying them in batches. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried cod from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Tartar Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Mix Tartar Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, dill pickles, capers, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Mix well.

  2. 9

    Season

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust accordingly.
