Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Slice the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half. Squeeze one half over the salmon fillets for added flavor and reserve the other half for garnish.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  2. 4

    Sear the Salmon

Carefully place the salmon fillets in the hot skillet, skin-side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving them, until the skin is crispy.

  3. 5

    Flip the Salmon

Using a spatula, gently flip the fillets over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  4. 6

Optional - Add Garlic and Herbs

If using, add minced garlic and chopped fresh herbs to the pan during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Salmon

Remove the salmon from the skillet and place it on a serving platter. Squeeze additional lemon juice over the top if desired.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with lemon slices and fresh herbs. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
