Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

    Grease the Pan

Grease an 8-inch square baking dish or a cast-iron skillet with butter.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together until evenly mixed.

Mixing Wet Ingredients

  1. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and honey until smooth and well combined.

Combining Mixtures

  1. 5

    Mix Wet and Dry

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.

Baking

  1. 6

    Bake the Cornbread

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish or skillet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling

  1. 7

    Cool the Cornbread

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
