Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to melt.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Build the Burger

Once the patties are cooked and the cheese is melted, place each patty on the bottom half of a burger bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and onion slices. Place the top half of the bun on top to complete the burger.
