Method

Preparing the Bread

  1. 1

    Slice the Baguette

Using a serrated knife, slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 2

    Toast the Bread

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Preparing the Topping

  1. 3

    Dice the Tomatoes

Wash and core the tomatoes. Dice them into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 4

    Mince the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and mince them finely. Add the minced garlic to the bowl with the diced tomatoes.

  3. 5

    Chop the Basil

Wash the basil leaves and pat them dry. Stack the leaves, roll them up, and slice them into thin strips (chiffonade). Add the chopped basil to the tomato mixture.

  4. 6

    Season the Mixture

Add salt and black pepper to the tomato, garlic, and basil mixture to taste. Mix gently to combine all ingredients.

Assembling the Bruschetta

  1. 7

    Top the Bread

Once the bread is toasted, allow it to cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread.

  2. 8

    Serve

Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and enjoy immediately while the bread is still warm and crispy.
