Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prep the Ingredients

Gather and prepare all ingredients. Rinse the prawns under cold water, devein and shell if not done. Chop the onion, tomato, and coriander leaves. Grate the ginger and mince the garlic.

  2. 2

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté Aromatics

Add the chopped onion to the heated oil and sauté until translucent. Then add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Add Spices

Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for another minute to enhance the flavors.

  3. 5

    Incorporate Tomatoes

Add the chopped tomato and curry leaves, cooking until the tomato softens.

  4. 6

    Add Coconut Milk

Pour in the coconut milk and mix well. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes.

  5. 7

    Cook the Prawns

Add the prawns to the coconut sauce, cooking until they turn opaque and are cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.

  6. 8

    Finish with Garam Masala

Sprinkle garam masala over the dish and stir gently. Let it cook for another minute.

  7. 9

    Garnish

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.

Serving

  1. 10

    Serve

Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side and steamed rice or naan.
