Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture, Greek yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Cooking the Naan

  1. 5

    Prepare the Garlic Butter

In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped cilantro. Set aside.

  2. 6

    Shape the Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions (about 6-8). Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into an oval shape with a rolling pin.

  3. 7

    Cook the Naan

Preheat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat. Place the naan in the skillet and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden and puffed.

  4. 8

    Add Garlic Topping

Remove the naan from the skillet and immediately brush it with the prepared garlic butter mixture while hot.

  5. 9

    Serve

Serve warm with your favorite curry or dip.
