Method

Preparing the Bun Maska

  1. 1

    Toast the Milk Bread Rolls

Slice the milk bread rolls in half. In a pan or griddle, add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt over medium heat. Place the sliced rolls cut-side down and toast until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining rolls.

  2. 2

    Butter the Rolls

Once toasted, remove the rolls from the pan and spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter on each half while they are still warm. Sprinkle a pinch of sugar on top for added sweetness.

Making the Chai

  1. 3

    Boil Water

In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Add Tea and Spices

Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of loose black tea leaves, 4 crushed green cardamom pods, and 1 teaspoon of grated ginger. Let it boil for about 5 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Milk and Sugar

After 5 minutes, lower the heat and add 1 cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of sugar to the tea mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.

  4. 6

    Strain the Chai

Using a strainer, pour the chai into cups to remove the tea leaves and spices. Serve hot.
