Burger Ingredients

Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apple-Onion Jam

In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, thyme, and salt. Cook until the apples are soft and the mixture thickens, about 15-20 minutes. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In another skillet, cook the thick-cut Smith bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels and set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Burger Patties

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and form them into balls. Season with salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Smash the Patties

Heat a skillet or griddle over high heat. Place the beef balls on the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties. Cook for 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip and immediately place a slice of cheese on top. Cook for another minute until the cheese melts.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each Kaiser bun, place one smashed burger patty, followed by two slices of crispy bacon, a generous spoonful of the apple-onion jam, and the top half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the double smash burgers with house fries, side salad, or fresh fruit on the side.
