Meatballs and Sauce
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Meatballs
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, eggs, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs about the size of a golf ball, and place them on a tray.
- 3
Brown the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, browning them on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- 4
Make the Tomato Sauce
In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes to the remaining oil and sauté for a few minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 5
Simmer the Meatballs
Return the browned meatballs to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Cover and let simmer for 20-30 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
- 6
Serve
Serve the meatballs hot, topped with coarse grated cheese.
