Ice Cream Base Preparation

Mix Cream and Milk
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream and whole milk. Whisk until well combined.

Add Sugar and Flavoring
Add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract to the cream mixture. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.

For Chocolate Ice Cream
If making chocolate ice cream, add cocoa powder to the mixture and whisk until fully incorporated.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until it is thoroughly chilled.
Churning the Ice Cream

Churn the Mixture
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Transfer to Container
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Freeze the Ice Cream
Cover the container with a lid and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
Serving
