Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatballs

Start by combining ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, the egg, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl.

  2. 2

    Shape the Meatballs

Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, then shape the mixture into small meatballs, approximately 2.5 cm in diameter.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook for about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.

  4. 4

    Sauté the Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.

  5. 5

    Combine with Sauce

Add the pasta sauce to the skillet with the mushrooms, stirring well. Then, return the cooked meatballs to the skillet, mix gently, and allow to simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.

  6. 6

    Cook the Spaghetti

While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.

  7. 7

    Serve the Dish

Drain the spaghetti and place it on serving plates. Ladle the mushroom and meatball sauce over the spaghetti. Garnish with chopped fresh basil.

  8. 8

    Finish and Enjoy

Sprinkle additional grated Parmesan cheese on top if desired and serve immediately.
