Cooking Steps

  1. 1

    Cook the Spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the canned tomatoes and crush them with a wooden spoon. Stir in salt and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes to thicken.

  4. 4

    Finish the Sauce

Chop the fresh basil and stir it into the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the marinara sauce. Plate the dish and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil leaves if desired.
