BBQ Spare Ribs

Method

BBQ Spare Ribs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs using a sharp knife. This helps to enhance flavor and tenderness.

  2. 2

    Make the Rub

In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.

  3. 3

    Season the Ribs

Pat the rib racks dry with paper towels and rub the spice mixture all over both sides of the ribs. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Cooking Setup

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Arrange the rack in the middle of the oven.

  5. 5

    Cook the Ribs

Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover tightly with another layer of foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until the ribs are tender.

  6. 6

    Make the BBQ Sauce

While the ribs are cooking, combine BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened slightly.

  7. 7

    Glaze the Ribs

After the ribs are tender, remove them from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the ribs and place under a broiler for 5-7 minutes until caramelized.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove the ribs from the oven. Let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with remaining BBQ sauce on the side.
