Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead and Rise

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface, about 1/4 inch thick.

  4. 4

    Add the Filling

Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the chopped chocolate evenly. Fold the dough in thirds, like a letter, then roll it out again to the same thickness.

  5. 5

    Shape the Croissants

Cut the dough into triangles. Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle tightly towards the tip. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped croissants with a cloth and let them rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the croissants for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool slightly before serving.
