Chocolate Lava Cake Ingredients

Method

Directions for Chocolate Lava Cake

1

Prepare the Oven and Ramekins

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour, tapping out the excess.

2

Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.

3

Mix Sugar and Eggs

In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy.

4

Combine Mixtures

Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until well combined. Then, gently fold in the flour and salt.

5

Add Caramel and Pecans

Spoon half of the batter into the prepared ramekins. Add a tablespoon of caramel sauce and a sprinkle of chopped pecans in the center of each, then top with the remaining batter.

6

Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake for about 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

7

Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then carefully invert them onto plates. Serve warm, drizzled with extra caramel sauce and sprinkled with more pecans if desired.
