Pretzel Sticks

Method

Pretzel Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

Add the all-purpose flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Pretzel Sticks

After rising, punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick, about 10 inches long.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Baking Soda Bath

In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).

  7. 7

    Boil the Pretzel Sticks

Carefully drop each pretzel stick into the boiling water for about 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  8. 8

    Egg Wash and Salt

Brush the boiled pretzel sticks with beaten egg and sprinkle coarse sea salt on top.

  9. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly.

F5 Beer Cheese Sauce

  1. 10

    Make the Roux

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  2. 11

    Add Milk and Beer

Slowly whisk in the milk and F5 beer until smooth. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 12

    Incorporate the Cheeses

Add the shredded cheddar cheese and softened cream cheese to the mixture. Stir until melted and smooth.

  4. 13

    Season the Sauce

Stir in garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.

  5. 14

    Serve

Transfer the beer cheese sauce to a serving bowl and serve warm alongside the pretzel sticks.
