Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Beef Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
- 2
Form Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal parts and shape each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

- 4
Add Cheese
After flipping the patties, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.
- 5
Prepare the Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into rounds and the onion into thin rings.
- 6
Toast the Burger Buns
Optionally, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
