Method
Chicken Marinade
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Add the boneless chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
Breading
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate shallow dish, mix the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
Frying
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, add the vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Carefully place the chicken into the hot oil, frying for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Drain the Chicken
Once cooked, transfer the fried chicken to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Sandwich Assembly
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Take a soft sandwich bun and place a piece of fried chicken on the bottom half. Top with pickles and cover with the top half of the bun. Repeat for the second sandwich.
