Smoking Ingredients

Method

Cocktail Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of bourbon or rye whiskey, 1 tsp of simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Add ice to fill the mixing glass.

  2. 2

    Stir

Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled and diluted.

  3. 3

    Strain

Using a strainer, pour the mixture into a rocks glass filled with a large ice cube.

  4. 4

    Garnish

Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the drink and drop it in. Add a cherry as garnish.

Smoking the Cocktail

  1. 5

    Prepare Wood Chips

While the cocktail is being prepared, place a handful of wood chips in a smoker box or a small piece of aluminum foil, poking holes in it to allow smoke to escape.

  2. 6

    Smoke the Cocktail

Using a handheld smoker, light the wood chips and place the smoker over the cocktail for about 30 seconds to infuse the smoky flavor.

  3. 7

    Serve

Remove the smoker and serve the cocktail immediately, allowing the smoky aroma to enhance the drinking experience.
