Preparation

  1. 1

Trim excess fat from the brisket and cut it into 1-inch pieces.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients for the BBQ sauce: ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

  3. 3

Add the brisket pieces to the BBQ sauce and ensure each piece is well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Braising the Brisket

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated brisket pieces in a large baking dish and pour any remaining BBQ sauce over the top.

  2. 5

Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and braise in the preheated oven for 3 hours, or until the brisket is tender.

  3. 6

    Finishing the Burnt Ends

Remove the brisket from the oven and carefully take off the foil. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).

  4. 7

Transfer the brisket pieces to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, until the edges are caramelized and crispy.

Serving

  1. 8

While the burnt ends are baking, chop the green onions. Once the brisket is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.

  2. 9

Serve the burnt ends warm, garnished with chopped green onions on top.
