Grits

Method

Grits Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Gradually whisk in the stone-ground grits and reduce heat to low. Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently until the grits are thick and creamy.

  2. 2

    Add Cream and Season

Once the grits are cooked, stir in the heavy cream, butter, salt, black pepper, and cheddar cheese. Mix until the cheese is melted and everything is well combined. Keep warm.

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Shrimp

In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Season the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.

  3. 5

    Finish the Dish

Remove the skillet from heat, then stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Mix well to combine.

Plating

  1. 6

    Serve

Spoon the creamy grits onto plates, top with the sautéed shrimp, and garnish with sliced green onions and additional parsley. Serve immediately.
