Pulled Pork Preparation

Prepare the Pork
In a large bowl, rub the pork shoulder with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add the orange juice, lime juice, and bay leaves. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the juices. Keep warm until ready to assemble the sandwiches.

Prepare the Sandwich
Slice the Cuban bread in half lengthwise. On the bottom half, layer the pulled pork, Compart DurocⓇ ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles.

Grill the Sandwich
Close the sandwich with the top half of the Cuban bread. Heat a skillet or sandwich press over medium heat and add butter. Once melted, place the sandwich in the skillet and press down with a spatula or a weight. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.

Serve
Remove the sandwich from the skillet, slice in half diagonally, and serve warm. Enjoy your winning Cuban sandwich!
